Unheard Part 1
It wouldn't be Deaf week without deaf people! This 5 minute video is a compendium of a 20 minute conversation I had the pleasure to have with Emanuel J. Cuadrado-Ramos.
Emanuel is the first Deaf student at the School of Architecture, University of Puerto Rico. He uses an interpreter provided by the University for better understanding and communicating with professors. He's on the right path to become an architect and I have no doubt he will be beneficial to the profession.
He was raised by hearing parents and has a dead brother. Even though his main language is a sign, he is great at reading lips and can verbally communicate. Please be aware that every deaf - like hearing people - has their own personality and communication skills.
You'll notice I was beyond happy during our conversation because od the fluidity we were able to have while communicating. When Emanuel couldn't read my lips, I used the chat tool.
