Non-Verbal Supermarket Trip
I went to the supermarket and decided not to use my voice to communicate. I chose the supermarket because it is a straightforward place where little to no communication is required. There are two things worth mentioning:
1. I was very aware of where I walked and stood. I did not want to risk people saying to me "excuse me" if I was blocking their produce for grab or alley access. As a deaf person, if you are concentrated in your own shopping, you won't always know if somebody is verbally saying "excuse me" to you.
2. Typically I get asked by the cashier if I want bags for my produce, this time I used the sign "deaf", and showed her a notebook with "I got bags, thank you"written on it. To my surprise, she signed "thank you" after I paid.
